“MO UP FRONT” is the first single of New Music Friday by the recently active NLE Choppa. In this song, his flow is nice, the production is also done very well but what sells the track is the polyphony effect.
This track has the same polyphony effect that “Champions” had within that song. NLE uses this effect to repeat the phrase “mo up front” multiple times during the track. He does this in a satisfying way where the phrase simultaneously ends the bar or verse.
Definitely a good and easy listen on this New Music Friday.
6LACK is gearing up for his Since I Have A Lover album to be released on the 24th later this month with the single “Talkback”. This is his third off of the album after his latest singles “Since I Have A Lover” and “A Letter To My Fans” were released earlier this month.
The artists’ raspy voice pairing with his melodic flow is such a nice combo to hear again after his five-year hiatus from the music industry.
On this single, he did incorporate religion, in a manner that was better than Joyner Lucas, who is regrettably mentioned later. “Talkback” is a definite listen on this New Music Friday.
“Tanisha (Pump That)” is a very catchy song by the duo. Swae Lee absolutely executed on the chorus bringing such a great flow that pairs well with Slim Jxmmi’s fast paced verse.
Not only that, but the cover of the single is the album cover for Sremm4Life. Both artists are posing and holding up the number four to mark the release of their fourth album.
This song is worth the listen, it’s an easy listen, it’s vibey, and brings the elements of Rae Sremmurd that everyone knows and loves.
This new EP should be the first listen on New Music Friday. Just For Clarity 2 is a four song EP that has some really good quality songs from Blxst.
For starters, “Ghetto Cinderella,” the first track, is a nice faster paced song by the artist which includes production from Mustard. However, the song that will probably be the most popular of the EP is “Passionate,” which features Roddy Rich.
This duo is something I didn’t know was necessary until I heard it real time. More collaborations between the two should already be in the works with how well they complimented each other on this song. “Passionate” should be first priority along with the rest of the EP this week.
“Devil’s Work 2” is the worst song this New Music Friday. I would stray away from this track, if possible, because of how bad it is. To be fair, the message behind it is respectable and a good one in my opinion. However, the delivery and execution on it was horrendous.
I don’t mind religion being incorporated into music, but Joyner Lucas just did not do it correctly. He just meshed all of the bad pop culture moments together in one four-minute song. However, honoring the fallen artist who have tragically passed is nice. He mentions an abundance including Takeoff from Migos, Juice WRLD, etc.
