NC State WR Kevin Concepcion Transfers to Texas A&M

Texas A&M just got a commitment from one of the best wide receivers in the transfer portal. Kevin Concepcion will leave NC State after two years to become an Aggie. Concepcion is the sixth-ranked wide receiver and the fifteenth-ranked prospect in the portal according to 247 Sports.

Kevin Concepcion had a strong career at NC State with 124 receptions, 1,299 yards, and 16 touchdowns. Also, he added 356 yards and two touchdowns in the rushing game. Unfortunately, a lot of these stats were accomplished in his freshman year with the Wolfpack.

However, the sophomore slump was not all his fault as the NC State offense was flat-out bad for parts of the season. QB Grayson McCall just could not figure things out so freshman QB CJ Bailey had to take over by the end of the year. However, Concepcion was still able to display his talent and a change of scenery is probably for the best.

Texas A&M had a QB issue of their own in head coach Mike Elko’s first year with the team. However, the problem has been resolved the program will stick with dual-threat QB Marcel Reed and QB Conner Weigman has transferred to Louisville. The Aggies passing game was lacking this year and they did not have a true alpha wide receiver. Now, Kevin Concepcion can step in next year and try to make a real name for himself.

I like the fit at Texas A&M for Kevin Concepcion. I think he can do some damage in the SEC and he will have a lot of eyes on him to boost his draft stock. Also, Texas A&M was extremely competitive this year in the SEC and College Football Playoff discussions. A boost in their passing attack, which was one of their weak spots last season, could be the difference in getting them into the CFB Playoffs next season.
