Nathan Eovaldi Says He Wanted To Stay With Red Sox

I’m sure Boston fans won’t be mad at this information at all. It turns out that Nathan Eovaldi really wanted to stay with the Red Sox. (Mary Schwalm/AP)

Nathan Eovaldi Says He Wanted To Stay With Red Sox

Shame on you, Chaim Bloom. Shame on you. The Boston Red Sox are painfully average. 43 and 43 to be exact and all roads like back to Bloom as being why. The Red Sox seem poised for another last place finish under Bloom and now we have ANOTHER damning piece of evidence as to why. It turns out Nathan Eovaldi, who’s crushing it right now in Texas, really wanted to stay with the Red Sox.

VIA Mass Live:

“I was positive that I’d be able to come back,” Eovaldi said. “We stayed in contact with everybody (with the Red Sox) during the negotiation process. We let them know other deals that we were getting, just kind of trying to make sure we kept that door open as long as possible. It got to that point where it was time to move on.

“Baseball is different,” he said. “Whether it’s going in a different direction or trying to pick up other pieces, things like that. We kept them in the loop with everything that we wanted to do and it was just unfortunate that it wasn’t able to work out. I’m happy with where I am now and everything that’s been able to happen. You can’t always control everything. You just take what life gives you.”

“I miss it here,” he said. “I had such an amazing time here in my career. Everything we were able to do in ‘18 and then the personal little achievements I accomplished as well. Boston always has a place near and dear to my heart.

“I think it’s the fan base…. the way that they come out in support, I feel like the whole city, how they are with all of their sports in general,” he added. “They live and breathe baseball, I feel like, and it’s just that special connection.”

Another day goes by as John Henry continues to allow the punk from Yale to run this team into the ground. So embarrassing. In case you were wondering, the Red Sox ended up with the dead corpse of Corey Kluber instead. Don’t worry, they almost got Zach Efflin and also found a way to let Michael Wacha leave too!

Eovaldi, 33, 10-3 with a 2.64 ERA while also leading the American League in innings (112 ⅓). I am 100% positive that the Red Sox have no interest in anyone like that. Don’t worry, two years at $34 million is too expensive for this team. I’m sure that information will infuriate no one!
