Sports Media
Monkey Knife Fight is no more. Founded in 2018, the daily fantasy sports site has seen a lot over the course of its five-year existence.
Us here at Vendetta Sports Media were even in a partnership with them for some time back in 2021. If you scroll back to some older articles, there’s a chance you may even see some posts with their promotion at the bottom.
The news was made official a couple of days ago on their Twitter page:
Their shutdown could be a sad statement on the reality of sports gambling today. Has it become a monopoly? Are apps like DraftKings, FanDuel, MGM, Bet365, and Barstool Sportsbook the only ones with a shot of existing and making money in this landscape? It’s hard to predict.
You must also consider that this had to do with Bally Sports and their recent financial troubles. They consider their 2021 acquisition of MKF a mistake and even opened up their own betting site. They are expected to pivot to new ventures and acquisitions in order to reduce their losses.
Looking back things really changed when books started to open in states like New Jersey in 2018 and New York in 2019. There was an avalanche of both demand and competition. Furthermore, their advertising in many broadcasts has become commonplace. With the way leagues and teams have evolved over the last five years, the way we gamble is even different. People are looking out for different lines.
I’m wishing everyone the best at MKF as they start a new chapter. While the past is a long time ago, it’s never good to see anyone go out of business. And as always, please gamble responsibly. Check out our articles right here if you want some directions for betting on the UFC, NFL or elsewhere.
