I have no idea why anyone would willingly do an interview with the scumbags over at The Athletic but Mo Vaughn was willing to expose himself for reasons that continue to remain unknown.
Putting that aside, Vaughn totally unprompted admitted to using HGH late in his MLB career.
“I was trying to do everything I could,” Vaughn told The Athletic. “I knew I had a bad, degenerative knee. I was shooting HGH in my knee. Whatever I could do to help the process.”
The 1995 American League MVP was among the players named in 2007 in the Mitchell report so it’s not really a surprise that this happened.
However, one big factor really needs to be brought up here. Major League Baseball didn’t ban Human Growth Hormone until 2005, which is nearly two years after Vaughn stopped playing. If you’re smart and can connect the dots, Vaughn in reality is totally in the clear. I’m sure some idiot will not understand that and will get mad anyway. If HGH wasn’t banned when he was taking it… who the hell cares? People will get their panties in a bunch regardless because steroids are a topic that breaks people’s brains.
HGH, no HGH, Vaughn was a legend of a game that deserves his respect. I remember being a kid watching him play. He was David Ortiz before Ortiz. During Vaughn’s MVP Season in 1995, he hit 39 homers with 126 RBIs. The real ones appreciate Vaughn for the slugger he was during his prime years with the Boston Red Sox.
