Miyan Williams 2024 NFL Draft Profile
Many people are fully aware of the monster Ohio State is putting out at the wide receiver position for the 2024 NFL Draft. What about the slept-on running back, Miyan Williams? Does Williams deserve more love? Let’s talk about everything you need to know in his 2024 NFL Draft profile!
Other people won’t do this but I don’t care. Let’s just throw 2023 out the window. The guy wasn’t healthy and when he was he was asked to grind out a 3rd and one. That was his only task this year. TreVeyon Henderson was hurt for a large chunk of the year and so was Williams. He only had 49 carries on the entire season and Chip Trayanum eventually took on that short yardage duty.
2021 and 2022 are the seasons to watch. Williams was frequently mentioned in the stock report notes. You will notice I use a comp with Williams over and over. He just looks like Beanie Well reincarnated. Beanie Wells got taken in the first round. I understand it’s a different era but that’s exactly what he looks like except didn’t get major run because Henderson is a freak.
Averaged 6.4 yards per carry as a freshman but that was only on ten carries. 2021 and 2022 were his best years. Averaged 7.1 yards per carry as a sophomore and 6.4 YPC as a junior. Ended up scoring 14 touchdowns that junior season on 128 carries. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why that is impressive.
We have no Combine data to work with. Checks in at 5-foot-8, 229. Beanie Wells ran a 4.62 and that’s probably what Williams would have run. Not a speed guy at all. Just a total hammer. Really good at keeping his feet moving. Trustworthy in short yardage. Doesn’t fumble. Just a guy that’s going to get the job done and pick up every last yard he should. Never going to frustrate you. You know what you’re getting and he’s a good football player.
Rated a three star guy coming out of high school. Has no real route tree right now but did make a few plays in the screen game. Box score won’t tell you much in that area. Probably won’t bring much to the table in the passing game but he can do the basics. He’s a big time bruiser. I just hope long term he knees are okay. Sounds like that was the issue holding him back this past year.
Again, I may sound like I’m repeating myself here but I’d be willing to take Williams in the 7th round. It sounds like nobody else likes him other than myself. If that’s the case, he’d be a priority for me as an undrafted free agent. I think he can play and thriving at Ohio State doesn’t just happen like that with the efficiency he had as a short yardage back.
