Mike Tannenbaum, what are you on? Earlier today on ESPN’s Get Up, Mike Tannenbaum had this to say about Ben Roethlisberger and the quarterbacks in the AFC North (Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports)
He’s 38 years old. He’s played two meaningful games in two years, that is a lifetime in pro football. Let’s go back to the 2004 draft, Eli Manning is retired, Philip Rivers is hanging on by a thread. And I think at some point during the season there will be a consequential play that Ben Roethlisberger is going to need to make and because of all the money he’s made and all the championships he’s won I’d rather see the ball in the hands of Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield or even Joe Burrow, cause those three quarterbacks in the AFC North it’s all in front of them. And I’ve been around quarterbacks when it’s close to the end… If I had to take the Ben Roethlisberger at 38 who’s played two games in two years I’ll take my chances with Burrow and Mayfield. And Pittsburgh may have 4th best quarterback this year in the AFC North.
This is just ridiculous and I feel it’s simply to spark debate and get views. Joe Burrow hasn’t played a single snap in the NFL and is running for his life from the Bengals’ defense in practice. Knowing he can’t be hit, knowing he’s untouchable by rule of the practice. The Baltimore Ravens panic when they’re down by 7 in the first quarter to the Tennessee Titans, how can you trust Lamar Jackson to make a consequential play at the end of the game when he can’t in the first quarter? Baker Mayfield had an all star supporting cast and regressed from his rookie year. If not for Jameis Winston wanting 30 and 30 so bad Baker Mayfield would have led the league in interceptions throw.
Mike Tannenbaum, I have three questions for you. How can you say a quarterback running a gimmick offense that was found out and exposed in the playoffs is better? How can you say a rookie who had one good college season is better? How can you say a quarterback that threw one more touchdown than interception with an all star cast of skill players is better? It’s beyond me and I’m convinced that this is simply for views. Cold takes exposed, get this one ready.
