Mike Macdonald Is Convinced The Seahawks Can Win A Super Bowl With Geno Smith

Mike Macdonald made a bold call during the offseason. Ryan Grubb is out and on his way back to Alabama. Klint Kubiak will be the new OC. The playcaller is changing but the quarterback is not. Apparently, Macdonald likes Geno Smith so much that he actually believes the Seahawks can win a Super Bowl with him.

“I don’t understand the conversation,” Macdonald said. “It’s pretty obvious this guy is a heck of a quarterback. He’s our quarterback. We love him. Can’t wait to go to work with him. We’ve had a lot of non-football conversations — to keep it legal — over the last month or so. And I know he’s really excited about Klint taking over. This guy, yeah, he’s a great player, man. And we can win a championship with Geno Smith. We really believe that and can’t wait to get back to work with him.”

What’s Macdonald going to say? Yeah, Geno sucks? I get all of that.

However, this answer borders on delusion. When you say things like this, you set yourself up to be fired. Nobody with an IQ above 40 actually believes Geno Smith is a legit Super Bowl winning quarterback. We’re talking about a guy who is 34 and has never won a playoff game. Now he’s going to win a Super Bowl? Just stop.

Maybe Macdonald is crazy enough to actually believe this but if so… he’s really going to get his heart broken. Seattle needs to draft a quarterback. Hopefully, Macdonald is smart enough to understand this.
