Mike Green 2025 NFL Draft Profile

Mike Green is getting serious round one buzz ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. The profile on the Marshall edge rusher is designed to get to the truth, so I’m going to do that right now and not waste any more time!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3)

Green, 22, was a three star recruit coming out of high school. That really doesn’t come close to telling the story though. He was a three star wide receiver prospect. Green was listed as the 91st ranked receiver and 16th best player in the state of Virginia. He was also a multiple-time state place winner in wrestling back in HS.

After initially committing to Virginia, Green finished up with two seasons at Marshall. His time at Virginia can basically be thrown in the trash. Year one, Green was a backup. Year two, he was essentially booted to the curb. Character stuff is going to have to be dug in here if you’re teams interviewing him. After an okay 4.5 sack season as a junior, Green totally exploded in 2024. This past season, Green tore it up, registering 17 sacks and three forced fumbles.

This is really about questioning if this is a one year boom or if a former converted wide receiver finally had that light bulb moment. Only the Chinese Farmer has the answer to that right now. The positive is he had a sack against Ohio State and looked good in that one. It was also his only showing against better competition, minus the two sacks against Virginia Tech.

The other positive is that Green lit it up at the Senior Bowl. He shut it down early, but the Josh Conerly moment (you will find it in the stock notes above) is probably ingrained in many people’s memories. I wish that would have carried over to the Combine except for the part where he didn’t workout. Oh, well, minus the part where he ripped out 28 reps on the bench.

This is the actual important part about Green. You can tell he’s a screw loose guy. The power is undeniable. He’s violent, and when the motor is on, he’s relentless. Green checks in at 6-foot-3, 251, but has that short area burst. Despite not being overly big, he’s pretty reliable power wise in the run game. 22.5 TFLs this past year sort of illustrate that. The sack production this year also led to Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year and First-team All-Sun Belt accolades.

I’m definitely nervous about this one, but I want to be a believer. I think the hype is a bit out of control, but I think Green is a round 2-3 player. Pass rushers are hard to find, and Green has some real qualities you like. I just couldn’t go higher based on the full timeline of events from the start of his collegiate journey.
