Micah Parsons Rips Giants For Hanging Daniel Jones Out To Dry

The New York Giants could not have asked for a worse start to the 2023 NFL season Sunday. The Dallas Cowboys obliterated them 40-0 in a completely one-sided contest in primetime during their home opener.

Micah Parsons put the Giants coaching staff on blast Monday for what he believes was a complete mismanagement of quarterback Daniel Jones

Jones had an abysmal performance, throwing for 104 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions while completing only 53.6 percent of his passes. It wasn’t all his fault though, as the offensive line gave up a total of seven sacks as Danny Dimes was running for his life the whole game.

Daniel Jones is not a bad quarterback,” Parsons said on his podcast for Bleacher Report. “I know, I know, I know, some of you believe he’s a bad quarterback and why re-sign him? Well, he just went against one of the top-3 defensive units in the league. He’s still learning how to be that guy, it’s only his second year with Brian Daboll. I don’t think we give guys the same grace that we did when guys like Peyton Manning came in to the league.”

Parsons had one of Dallas’ seven sacks on Jones, who stayed in the game despite the Giants’ 40-0 with under eight minutes left. It was a tough watch, to put it lightly.

The Penn State product went on to criticize the Giants for throwing Jones back out there again and again.

It’s called protecting your guy. You know, something I thought the Giants should’ve done,” Parsons said. “I don’t think Daniel Jones should’ve been in that game in the fourth quarter. I thought they should’ve protected him and pulled him out. And barring injury, their season will be over without him.

Parsons then referred to the Cincinnati Bengals pulling Joe Burrow out of a blowout loss against the Cleveland Browns.

Hey, we’re going to submit, we’re going to take our loss and we’re going to move on to next week and get better,” Parsons said of protecting Burrow. “That’s the best thing you can do.”

It’s just Week 1, and Jones is still trying to prove that he deserves the massive contract extension the Giants gave him over the offseason. A smart decision does not involve leaving your franchise quarterback in a game that’s already decided.

The Giants will look to bounce back against the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday. Micah Parsons and the Cowboys will look to continue their dominance against Zach Wilson‘s New York Jets.
