Miami Dolphins To Sign Calais Campbell

Campbell, 37, looks to continue an already very successful career. He has earned six trips to the Pro Bowl, and racked up 105.5 sacks in 16 seasons. Campbell spent the bulk of his career thus far with the Arizona Cardinals, achieving two Pro Bowl selections as a member of their squad. He went to four in a row from 2017-2020, three with the Jacksonville Jaguars and one with the Baltimore Ravens. His 2023 season with the Atlanta Falcons saw a return to form for Campbell. He achieved 6.5 sacks and 56 total tackles, numbers he hadn’t achieved since 2019 as a member of the Jaguars.

Calais Campbell is no stranger to Miami, making this move a sort of homecoming to him. Campbell attended the University of Miami, Florida before being drafted in the second round of 2008 by the Arizona Cardinals. He recorded 129 tackles and 19.5 sacks in three seasons for the Hurricanes. Further adding to the familiarity, Campbell will be reunited with Anthony Edwards (no, not that one). Edwards coached Campbell as a member of the Baltimore Ravens in 2021 and 2022.

Campbell’s veteran presence in Miami will be deeply appreciated by a team haunted by injuries. Two of the Dolphins’ top defensive players, Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb, suffered season ending injuries last year. As their return table may extend into the upcoming season, Campbell’s experience and still decent production will be incredibly valuable to a team loaded with potential.
