Merril Hoge Has Hilariously Moronic Take On Drake Maye

I’ll give you a second to Google who Merril Hoge is, and if you think his opinion on Drake Maye should mean anything.

Welcome back. I’m sure through your search of who on earth this dude is, you noticed he has some really bad takes. It just feels like Hoge is someone desperately trying to stay relevant, and he’s trying to do so this year by slandering Drake Maye. Hoge had an all-time stupid take recently, and we need to discuss it.

“I would not touch Maye,” Hoge begins. “He’s extremely inconsistent. His processing inconsistent. He’s not extremely athletic. I find him more stiff. He got a longer throwing motion, which allows more picks.”

Merril Hoge went on to say that he would not take Drake Maye in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. I just don’t get it. It’s a very popular thing lately to go on Twitter (yes, it’s still Twitter around these parts) and try to claim that Maye isn’t a stud. Folks have been coming out of the woodwork trying to tell us that he isn’t good and that they would never draft Maye high.

That article is coming next, so stay tuned, but it doesn’t take a genius to see that Drake Maye is going to be very good at the next level. Does he get the famous Burroughs “stallion” monicker? Not quite, but I would sleep rather comfortably knowing I turned in the card on Maye. Merril Hoge is showing how out of touch he is with today’s NFL, and that no one should be taking him seriously. I’m glad he got his 15 minutes of fame again for this take, but it’s long overdue we leave Hoge where he belongs, in the past.
