Mel Kiper: The Redskins Shouldn’t Consider Tua Tagovailoa Because The Dolphins Passed On Drew Brees

It’s draft season. If someone posts content about the NFL Draft, I’m probably going to click on it. Today, I figured I would check out ‘The First Draft’ Podcast with Mel Kiper Jr and Todd McShay. Let’s just say it fell short of expectations. That’s putting it nicely.

This week they did a segment called Tua or False. The host of the show asks Mel Kiper whether the Redskins should consider Tua Tagovailoa with the 2nd pick in the draft. You won’t believe his response:

The Redskins shouldn’t consider Tua Tagovailoa because the Dolphins passed on Drew Brees? WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING HERE!?! I’ll include the full link here so you know I’m not cheesing. Don’t you think Miami regrets that decision? Now teams shouldn’t consider Tua because Miami was dumb enough to pass on Drew Brees? Shouldn’t you try to learn from mistakes of the past? Not purposely make the same one? Don’t smart people learn from the past?

You can’t fix stupid. I have a lot of respect for Mel Kiper. He will forever be a legend. This is beyond just bad. Todd McShay isn’t any better with his fence riding refusing to pick a lane on the topic. McShay had a better chance at choosing his favorite flavor at the ice cream shop than he did deciding what he thought about Tua.

I know I’m going to get sick of talking about this because we have months to go. I’ll put my reputation on the line here. Tua Tagovailoa will be an elite level franchise quarterback. I don’t care if he broke his hip or lost his pinky toe. There’s no time to ride the fence. I’d pick him with the first pick in the draft and laugh at everyone who didn’t know what to make of his injury.
