Mattress Mack: How Much Did He Lose On Houston Astros In 2023?

Jim McIngvale, better known as Mattress Mack, has taken the sports betting world by storm the last few years based on the absurd amounts he has wagered, specifically on his beloved Houston Astros.

McIngvale made headlines last year when he reportedly made around $75 million dollars throughout all his bets for the Astros winning the World Series. He looked to repeat his fortunes this year, unfortunately, the Astros were eliminated last night by the Texas Rangers in the ALCS. Just how much did McIngvale lose?

According to Vegas Insider Patrick Everson via USATODAY.com, Mattress Mack lost “at least” $7.9 million dollars across all the tickets he had open. He had tickets for the Houston Astros to win both the American League outright and World Series winner. The payout, you wonder?

Somewhere in the range of $51 million. Just the sheer ability to casually go and drop that kind of money on sports betting is wild, but he has it like that. For those who don’t know, McIngvale is the owner of Gallery Furniture, which has stores across the country.

This undoubtedly won’t be the last we hear of Mattress Mack, as he will likely be betting across other sports as well, not just as a Houston Astros bettor. He made two large bets on the Cincinnati Bengals to win the Super Bowl over the Los Angeles Rams, which cost him upwards of $9.5 million dollars. Had the Bengals won, he would have won around $16 million dollars.
