Mason Graham is likely going to be taken within the first 5-10 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. The goal of this post is to talk about why that’s the case. While Trey has no problem going against the grain, that won’t be the case when talking about the Michigan defensive tackle. Let’s just get into it because the clock is ticking with this stuff.
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2
Graham, 21, was a four star prospect hailing from Anaheim, California coming out of high school. The Michigan product was also ranked as the 25th best defensive lineman and 16th best player in the state as well.
In terms of the stock notes, feel free to read the game against Texas. He also wrecked the game against Ohio State again this year. The tricky part with all these Michigan guys is you’re probably better served watching the Harbaugh era stuff when these guys had something to play for. I’ve mentioned Graham in prior years but mostly in short spurts given he wasn’t draft eligible at the time of publication.
No Combine workout for Graham either, but he did rip out 24 on the bench. I wouldn’t say Graham is generationally strong but he’s definitely strong and mostly wins because he’s so good at creating leverage and angles inside. The former Michigan product checked in at 6-foot-3, 296, and 32 inch arms.
It’s not hard to figure out why Graham is a good player. He was a state champion wrestler coming out of high school. He popped right away as a freshman. The next two years, he was First-team All-Big Ten Conference. The sack production isn’t out of control, but if you watch the games, you know this is a guy who, at his best, totally tilts the field.
Graham has so many good qualities going for him. His motor is really good. Guy is relentless and has that feel for getting after the quarterback. Knows how to play with leverage and stay low / compact. Again, if there’s one complaint, it’s that his pure bullrush doesn’t kill people, but that should come with more development. His pure footwork short area is more than enough to make you understand that this is a rare breed for the position.
I think Mason Graham is a top of the first round type of guy. The game is won through offensive and defensive lines. Getting a guy like Graham is a great building block for any franchise. His wrestling background and incredible flashes dating back to his freshman year at Michigan makes this player feel like a pretty safe bet. I’m not quite sure how good, good Graham will be but that’s part of the mystery of the draft. Long story short, you probably can’t go wrong here. Good player that no team should have an issue turning the card in for.
