The Raiders traded Davante Adams. Could that potentially mean Maxx Crosby is next to depart Las Vegas? With a rebuild on deck, does it make sense to deal Crosby for a bounty of draft picks? According to Raiders owner Mark Davis, trading Crosby isn’t something they’re remotely considering.
“There’s so much outside chatter that is not true,” Davis recently said, according to Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed of The Athletic. “It’s not coming from any sources. It’s not coming from anything. My basic thing is never to answer all that stuff because, otherwise, you get trapped in this black hole. It’s just not happening.”
Crosby, 27, has 5.5 sacks through five games this season after notching 14.5. If there is a player who is deemed untouchable on this roster, it’s probably Crosby. It’s so hard to find pass rushers and it’s even harder to find players with the internal motor that he has. The guy is just relentless and you can’t put a price tag on players like that.
At the same token, if the Raiders actually traded Crosby, they would get an absolute haul. They would likely get something well beyond a first rounder. The perfect bounty the Raiders need to get this rebuild rolling.
For what it’s worth, teams have called on Crosby. The Raiders just won’t even consider having that conversation right now.
