Recruiting is everything in college football. You could make the case that winning the living room matters more than the actual coaching on the field. New Miami Hurricanes head football coach Manny Diaz must be having a really tough time recruiting because he found an odd person to blame for those struggles.
Manny Diaz is blaming Kevin Durant for joining the Warriors for the reason why he is struggling to land recruits for Miami. The quote comes our way via the Miami Herald:
“Look, the world has changed, and I’m going to blame the NBA. Once Kevin Durant went to the Warriors after they were 3-1 up when he was at Oklahoma City — kids want to go where the winning is. So, that’s hard because you have to create the winning to get them to come to where the winning is. So, there’s a natural tendency to be drawn to the places that are currently on top, which, that’s fair.”
If I’m Miami, the first thing I do today is fire Manny Diaz. What a pathetic coward. I’ve never heard of someone say something so stupid in my life. I got news for you Mr. Diaz. Highly recruited kids have always joined the top college programs, long before your dumb ass got a job. 40 years ago, the top recruits went to Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, etc. No 5 star recruit is eager to head to Purdue because of the “challenge” of joining a worse team you idiot.
Manny Diaz just got the job because Mark Richt retired and he should already get fired. 16 players out of the top 300 recruits come from the Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County. Just 2 of the 16 have committed to play for Miami. Hey, bud, when you can’t even land the top players in your backyard, that’s a you problem, Manny Diaz, you idiot.
Miami has won just 10 games once since 2004. That lone season came with Richt and now he’s gone. What has Manny Diaz ever done to even earn a job?
