Manchester City looks set to complete its third signing this summer. City has agreed to pay French-side Stade Rennais a €60 million transfer fee to sign Jeremy Doku, according to Fabrizio Romano. The young Belgian winger has agreed to a long-term contract with the club.
Doku has been chased by a number of big clubs this summer for a reason. The 21-year-old is one of the most exciting attacking prospects in the world. His dribbling, speed and creativity are what initially catch the eye.
His explosive pace and high-level dribbling ability make him a nightmare for any defender out wide, where he can wreak havoc on the wing and create going forward. He completes 2/3 of his attempted dribbles a game. This ends up being around 14 completed dribbles per 90 minutes, an impressive stat highlighting how good Doku is when the ball is at his feet.
While dribbling is definitely what stands out the most in Doku’s play, he also has an impressive passing range. On average, Doku completes 84% of his passes. For someone who is known for his dribbling, this shows the range he has in his game.
He also completes 1/3 of his crosses and has improved upon his goalscoring. Doku already scored for Stade Rennais in the club’s Ligue 1 opener against Metz. He can dribble, pass, cross and is finding his scoring boots. All of this, along with his young age and potential, make Doku a great signing for Manchester City.
Doku will replace Riyad Mahrez who left City earlier this summer to move to Saudi Arabia. He will join Mateo Kovačić and Joško Gvardiol as new signings for the reigning Premier League champions.
