Major League Baseball Announces 3 Batter Minimum Rule In 2020

Rob Manfred sucks. He really does. Today Major League Baseball passed a bunch of rules. Some for 2019 and some for 2020. In 2019, MLB has announced that the winner of the home run derby will bring home $1 million. In 2020 they also passed a rule that will bring active rosters to 26 players instead of 25. This last rule is the one that will make you vomit.

Jeff Passan of ESPN had the following:

“A single trade deadline, an All-Star Game election day and a million-dollar bonus for the Home Run Derby winner will be implemented in 2019 — while a three-batter minimum for pitchers and roster expansion will happen in 2020 — as part of a deal Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association are set to announce Thursday, sources familiar with the agreement told ESPN.”

Timeout. A 3 batter minimum? This has to go down as one of the 3 dumbest rules in sports. The other 2 are definitely in baseball too. No other sport does this shit. Imagine in the NFL the commissioner goes, well we’re trying to speed up the game so your starters on the defensive line has to play 95 percent of the snaps. Imagine in the NBA the commissioner goes, we want more scoring, every starter has to shoot at least 5 3-pointers in a game. No other sport dictates how a team has to utilize their team during a game.

This makes me sick to my stomach. It really does. Each and every day that goes by baseball dumbs the sport down and ruins what makes it great. Also, how the f*ck are you going to enforce this. What happens if a reliever blows his arm out after the first batter? What are you going to make him finish the inning? What a f*cking joke!
