Mac Jones Has Lost The Locker Room In New England
The guys in the room no longer believe in Mac Jones. How could they after this past week? I think this throw right here sealed Mac’s fate in New England. I think I could have thrown a touchdown on this throw and I never say stuff like that. New England just had to bench Mac after this.
Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald has reported that the players in the locker room are just done with Mac Jones:
“One team source estimated that at least 80% of the Patriots’ locker room is out on Jones. Another said the ‘vast majority’ of players are done with him. Both said the lack of belief spreads to both sides of the ball, with a shared sense that Jones’ worst mistakes negate the best efforts of his teammates.”
Jones, 25, has a QBR of 38.9 to go along with a 10-10 TD to INT ratio. It’s just not good enough. He’s a lock to have his 5th-year option declined. Somehow the former Alabama product is worse without Matt Patricia. Who would have thought that?
It’s over for Mac in New England. It’s one thing to play poorly. It’s another thing to lose the room. Can you really blame the players for not buying into him any longer?
The problem is Bailey Zappe stinks too. That’s why he got cut earlier this year. I guess they can technically go to Will Grier or Malik Cunningham next. Regardless of who the Patriots switch to at quarterback, the season is toast.
