Lumberlend Breaks Silence on Recent Departures
If you’ve spent any time around the sports TikTok space, you’ve probably come across Lumberlend. The Boston-area custom bat mug company became a staple of SportsTok with their engaging content. Viewers got to know members of the company and their personalities through guessing games and hot takes filmed in the office. The main Lumberlend TikTok account has 2.4 million followers. Three side accounts owned by the company total another 1.1 million. Their YouTube channel has accumulated over 137,000 subscribers.
Things recently got interesting as many Lumberlend personalities began posting videos that they were no longer working for the company. Such videos were put out by John Eccles, Dante Turo, Ben Brungardt, and Jonny Rasch, all of whom had become staples on the TikTok page. Many of their explanations were very vague beyond clearing up they were no longer employed by Lumberlend, which led to a lot of speculation on their departure.
Lumberlend Founder Addresses Recent Departures
Founder AJ Wnukowski posted a video to the company TikTok addressing the elephant in the room. As he tells it, sales for the bat mug product were down to the point they were unable to support the many employees involved in media, marketing, and production. AJ said a point of focus moving forward is generating more bat mug sales. Based on his statement as well as those of former employees, it seems there is no bad blood. The departures were a direct result of insufficient sales and purely a business decision.
For fans of Lumberlend, the recent events mark the end of an era. Many familiar faces are out the door and the company will be greatly scaling back their content production. Will Lumberlend continue to be a factor on TikTok moving forward? Time will tell.
