Luke Lachey 2025 NFL Draft Profile

George Kittle, TJ Hockenson, Sam LaPorta, and now Luke Lachey? Are we really getting another stud tight end from Iowa? Let’s have a chat about it because you may be surprised where I’m going with this one. Here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on Lachey!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 6, East-West (1), (2), (3), (4), Game

Lachey, 23, was a four star recruit out of the state of Ohio via the high school ranks. Like many of the Hawkeyes’ tight ends before him, the production isn’t outrageous, but that’s just the nature of the offense. Anyone who watches college football knows what old school Big 10 football looks like and that’s what Iowa is.

The numbers, again, aren’t anything to write home about. He spent all four years at Iowa and notched 28 receptions each in 2022 and 2024. There’s a whole lot of nothing filled in between. The 2022 season was the only season he actually scored in, notching four scores that campaign.

Given the circumstances, the predraft stuff for Lachey is what really matters. For anyone who remembers, I loved what I saw from LaPorta at the Combine. That couldn’t have been further from the case with Lachey. I thought Lachey stunk it up at the Combine and he looked equally as bad at the East-West game.

All of the notes are there available for you at the top, but the themes include looking like a slug, having zero burst, and also having shaky hands. Honestly, the worst part to me is that he’s really not a physical presence in the blocking department either.

I understand that all of these Iowa tight ends seem to work out, but I don’t get this one. I have an undrafted grade on Luke Lachey and based on everything we’ve seen during the pre-draft process, it’s hard to say he’s just going to follow in the same path. There are so many other tight ends in this class that I prefer over Lachey.
