LSU Lands Bryce Underwood

LSU has now landed the number one rated player at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver for the 2025 recruiting cycle. Brian Kelly has officially landed Bryce Underwood to complete that triple crown. Underwood, the number one rated quarterback, will make LSU his new home shortly.

247 Sports were the first to report the news:

“Great coaching staff, amazing coaching staff, amazing atmosphere,” Underwood told 247Sports. “The program itself is very historical. A lot of great players went in and out of Louisiana State University. 

Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, and Colorado were the other schools in the mix. Underwood currently plays for Belleville High School in Michigan. Michigan was certainly a major player here. It’s maybe fair to wonder if Jim Harbaugh’s constant flirtations with the NFL prevented the Wolverines from winning this one.

Can Brian Kelly Win a National Championship at LSU?

Underwood is 40-2 overall as Belleville’s starer. He also won Michigan football player of the year in 2023. He posted a 42-3 TD to INT ratio along with 3,405 passing yards this past year. Underwood helped lead his school to State championships in two of the past three years.

The timing appears to be right here too. Garrett Nussmeier is expected to take the reigns in 2024. Underwood will then likely follow him after.

If you’re still doubting Brian Kelly, I’d advise you to stop before you really look silly. He’s building a hell of a future core. The combination of Underwood, Dakorien Moore and Harlem Berry is going to be a fun trio for LSU fans to root for.
