Logan Thomas Is More Than A Viable Fantasy Tight End

The tight end position is a wasteland in fantasy. I’ve said it a billion times and if you miss out on the top 2-3 guys at the position, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Often times the names you least expect can save you. You know, those reclamation projects you never heard of… like Logan Thomas. It’s time to give Thomas the respect he deserves.

Thomas, 29, has had a bumpy NFL journey. The former Virginia Tech quarterback did not fare well in Arizona playing QB. Nor did I believe that he was a legit QB prospect. They quickly moved on and Thomas knew his future was at tight end or the couch. Thomas resurfaced in Buffalo and then Detroit as a tight end. However, it wasn’t until this year with Washington that Thomas was given a real opportunity.

In 2020 (four starts) Thomas caught 72 balls for 670 yards and six touchdowns. I’ll take it! Now imagine what Thomas can do over the course of a full season given the real job as a starter? Once again, there’s no competition on this Washington Football depth chart at the tight end position. This is Thomas’ job and only his job.

Better yet, this offense should become more reliable. At minimum better from a fantasy perspective because Ryan Fitzpatrick will just sling that puppy all over the place. That’s good news for someone like Logan Thomas. Especially since there are really limited targets on this offense. Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, and who? Thomas will get his looks.

Call me crazy but Logan Thomas could have top five value at the tight end position. Now, of course, that’s the high end. Maybe this whole thing was a fluke. I find that hard to believe. Thomas is physically gifted and only getting better playing tight end. At minimum, you’re probably looking at a low end starter and great bye week filler.
