Lindy Ruff Blames The Media For The Devils’ Bad Power Play
Are you having a bad day? Apparently, all you have to do is blame the media and all of your problems will go away. As ridiculous as that sounds, it’s exactly what Lindy Ruff is doing. The Devils are struggling and their head coach has resorted to blaming the media for all of their problems.
Is this guy developing early stages of dementia? Get ready for this cheese.
As of this writing, the Devils enter today with 15th-ranked power play in the NHL converting 22% of the time. Except New Jersey is trending in the wrong direction and are just two of their last 46 on the man advantage. Just know that it’s the media’s fault the Devils aren’t scoring.
“You guys are creating excess pressure,” the bench boss continued. “Us, as a staff, we’ll go through that power play. We changed things up. We met with individual groups tonight versus, usually, you meet with all 10 or 11 of your power-play guys. We’ll go through the whole thing again and just try to keep getting better.”
Don’t worry, I’m sure you’re just as confused as I am. I have no words other than this is an incredibly embarrassing look for Ruff.
The only defense Ruff has right now is the fact that Dougie Hamilton is hurt and the PP quarterback duties are on rookie Luke Hughes. The defense and goalie situation is a bit of a mess in Jersey. That part is absolutely fair to point out.
Ruff, 64, received a contract extension in the early stages of the 2023-24 NHL Season. Maybe that means he’s safe but his antics recently are borderline insane. It’s also pretty obvious that the Devils miss Andrew Brunette. If New Jersey struggles the rest of the way, maybe they will make a switch behind the bench.
