Leonard Fournette Claps Back at Outrage Over His Weight

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette reportedly weighs in at nearly 260 pounds at camp and is drawing the wrath of his coaches, as well as social media — and I think the latter probably hurt more. Fournette was seriously getting flamed and as much as I love “Playoff Lenny”, Twitter was taking no prisoners with the news.

Comparisons were certainly drawn.

With Tom Brady being the king of nutrition, it was inevitable his name would pop up in the memes as well.

Fantasy football found its way in there as well.

I mean a man can only take so much, right? Leonard Fournette finally clapped back at the jokes and hate with a convincing response calling everyone who’s doubting him out.

Personally, I figured we shouldn’t overreact to the original report as he still has time and the piece seemed like a bit of an exaggeration for clicks. On top of that, if anyone can get in better shape in about two months it’s probably the NFL athlete with a surreal amount of help to create the perfect diet plan and exercise routine. Especially after his tweet, I’m convinced Fournette should be just fine and continue his role as the leading Buccaneers running back. If he himself is feeling confident enough to make statements as such, I believe we’ll see a Fournette that’s in tremendous playing shape come the season.

I’m rooting for Lenny and can’t wait for him to go out there proving the haters wrong starting Sept. 11. Fantasy wise, Rachaad White is certainly a threat, but I feel confident drafting Fournette with an early pick based on his tremendous success last year. Continuity is key, and with a quarterback like Brady, it takes a while to truly trust certain teammates. Fournette is also the type of player to only improve as the season gets on and that bodes well for those with hopes of a fantasy championship. Don’t worry about his weight and buy the dip. I promise you Lenny didn’t eat it.
