Drew McIntyre has been in an interesting situation with the WWE as of late. The form two-time WWE Champion has not competed, nor appeared, in the company since WrestleMania 39 a few months ago. Upon returning to the WWE, McIntyre had been a prominent part of the company, though his world title reigns, unfortunately, came during the pandemic. So he didn’t really get a proper world title in front of fans, but there have been recent reports about where he has been and what the plan is for him.
Drew McIntyre’s contract is reportedly coming to an end soon. So his absence is reportedly due to him and WWE failing to agree to creative ideas, per PW Insider. So that is reportedly a big part of his contract negotiations moving forward with the company. However, recently there has been a reported update on his situation.
Per PW Insider, WWE Creative has made a push to get Drew McIntyre involved in a storyline by WWE Money in the Bank. Furthermore, there have been recent meetings between the two sides for pitches for his return, though if McIntyre is not announced for Money in the Bank, it would be a shame if he did not show up, since it is in the UK.
It is worth noting that Drew McIntyre has appeared at the Special Olympics, which WWE is partnered with. He became a Special Olympics Ambassador in 2021, so it is nice to see he is still fulfilling his duties while trying to figure out his contract with the company.
Since McIntyre made his return to the WWE, he has been a prominent figure and established as a main-event-level superstar, so I would be extremely surprised if they were not able to figure something out with the superstar.
