I’m just going to go out on a limb and suggest that Lane Kiffin doesn’t think too highly of Carson Beck. In the most Lane Kiffin way ever, the Ole Miss head coach blasted Miami for giving Beck the bag to leave Georgia.
VIA the Pivot Podcast:
“Miami gave him $4.3 million?” Kiffin asked. “Did they watch his game against us?”
“I don’t ever get mad at the kids,” he said. “It’s not their fault. The system, [they] can go get it. It’s free market with no cap and in some areas, unlimited boosters.”
Absolutely hilarious!
By the way, he’s not exactly wrong. Ole Miss beat Georgia this past year, 28-10, and Beck played pretty terrible, posting 20-for-31 for 186 yards and one interception. If you want a bigger write-up from that game, here are the Stock Report notes from that week that you can peruse if you so choose.
Also, Ole Miss will undergo its own quarterback change heading into this year. Austin Simmons will take over for Jaxson Dart, who recently got drafted in the first round by the Giants. I also don’t view Dart as a first round prospect and probably only went in the first round because of Kiffin, but that’s a story for another day. Only time will tell, but I have a sneaky suspicion that Ole Miss fans will be perfectly happy with Simmons.
Clearly, Georgia didn’t want to make that kind of financial commitment to Beck and will now go with Gunnar Stockton heading into the 2025-26 season.
