The Florida Gators have a very talented receiving core going into the 2019-2020 year. Led by Senior Josh Hammond and sophomore standout Van Jefferson, Florida would add another piece they did not see coming, Kyle Pitts. Kyle Pitts is a 6-6, 239-pound TE who has the speed of a wide receiver. He has had some big games here in the 2019 season and it just keeps on getting better. As I lay out to you who Kyle Pitts is and how good he’s doing, all you have to do is read.
If you don’t already know who Kyle Pitts, just know he’s a matchup nightmare for both linebackers and cornerbacks. He’s a very lengthy, strong, and physically fast tight end who can also block. His season stats right now mark as 39 rec for 469 yards and 4 touchdowns. His breakout game came against Tennessee where he tallied 62 yards and a touchdown, he has been lighting up ever since. Other big games include an 8 rec, 65-yard game against Auburn, and a huge game in a loss to LSU where he tallied 5 rec for 108 yards. Some may say since Florida has one of the best receiving cores in the nation that frees up space in the secondary for Pitts, but when you look at his size and speed, you know he’s a matchup nightmare.
As for draft stock, Pitts is only a sophomore. Since he still has another year left before he would be eligible for the draft, anything could happen. He could come out his junior year and have a bad season, he could get injured, anything is possible. As many could expect, if Pitts keeps producing the way he is, and keeps this up next year you can expect him to go in the first two rounds of the NFL draft. If there was anyone that compares well to Pitts that’s in the NFL now, it would probably be Darren Waller or Speedy Evan Engram. In the next year or two just remember the name Kyle Pitts, he may just end up as something special.
