Kevin Garnett Is Fighting Some Questionable Battles

As an NBA Hall-of-Famer and one of the most notorious trash talkers of all time, Kevin Garnett has never shied away from the spotlight, but his most recent take on social media was very unusual. After winning Game 4 in Boston, Nets point guard and former Celtic Kyrie Irving appeared to stomp on the Celtics center court logo. Moments later, a fan threw a water bottle at Irving and was subsequently arrested and escorted out of TD Garden. Garnett took to Instagram to voice his displeasure, but it was directed at Irving, rather than the fan. If a fan had thrown a water bottle at 6-foot-11, 240-pound Garnett during his playing days, the basketball world probably would have experienced Malice at the Palace Part Two, so Garnett’s decision to direct his ire at Irving was questionable.

Garnett’s defensiveness regarding the situation was even more surprising, as he had almost justified the fan’s inexcusable actions. This is the same Kevin Garnett who called Charlie Villanueva a cancer patient and said Happy Mothers Day to an opponent whose mom had just died, but stomping on Lucky the Leprechaun is evidently crossing the line, so one would think that he would brush aside Irving’s insult easily. Apparently not.
