Kevin Durant Has Requested a Trade from the Nets

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, NBA superstar Kevin Durant has requested that the Brooklyn Nets trade him. This news comes after Durant had a meeting with Nets GM Sean Marks earlier today.

Thus far it has been announced that Durant has listed the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns as squads he would be interested in joining. With that being said, the Nets are looking for the best return possible.

Durant will be one of the most valuable trade pieces of all time. Not only is he one of the best players in the NBA, but he has four years left on his current contract. The 34-year-old is yet to decline from prime form. Last season, he averaged 29.9 points, 6.4 assists, and 7.4 rebounds per game. Durant was the 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player and is a two-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors. He was the Finals MVP in both of those championship wins.

The Heat and Suns both have the tools to land Durant. The Heat have large contracts in Kyle Lowry and Duncan Robinson that could be a cap filler, while Tyler Herro is a solid young piece that can be included in the deal. Meanwhile, a Deandre Ayton sign-and-trade is a possibility from Phoenix. Both teams would need to include draft picks to round out the trade package, but they have solid pieces in place to make an offer.

Miami and Phoenix will not be the only teams looking to land Durant. Expects a handful of other teams to call the Nets. Other potential suitors may include the Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, and New York Knicks.

According to Brian Windhorst, Kyrie Irving will likely be on the trade block too. This is just the first domino of many to fall in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes.
