Kevin Durant, Davante Adams comment that Ja Morant is the ‘most athletic’ pro athlete in the world

Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant made not only one, but two of the most athletic finishes around the rim that you will see all season Monday against the Brooklyn Nets.

In the second quarter, Ja Morant blew past Keon Johnson at the right wing and met Nets center Nic Claxton at the rim. Morant leaped off two feet, but instead of trying to finish over him, he hid a 360-spin (clockwise) to finish with his left around the 7-foot shot-blocker.

One quarter later, Morant did it again — this time off a pass from Jaren Jackson Jr. while cutting to the rim. Morant cocked back like he was going to finish above an outstretched Cam Johnson, but maneuvered his body in mid-air to perform a 360-spin around him for the uncontested lay-in.

Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant commented on the play the following day on “Up & Adams,” and had a bold statement regarding Morant’s freakish athleticism.

“[Morant is] the most athletic person I’ve seen,” Durant told Kay Adams Tuesday. “I didn’t want to give him that because he’s young and there’s a lot of great athletes in the history of sports. But come on now, to pull that off that smooth, that easy, it’s ridiculous. He’s a top-level athlete.”

Durant wasn’t the only one, as wide receiver Davante Adams said Morant “may be the most athletic player in the world” on Adams’ show:

Whether it’s his ridiculous athleticism around the rim or his playmaking, Morant is a walking highlight reel whenever he steps onto the basketball court.

Both Durant and Adams have played with and watched sensational professional athletes, even if none of them have the vertical bounce that Morant has–which is far from the only trait when evaluating athleticism.

Regardless, Morant’s in the 99th percentile of athletes in the NBA, barring none. Whether it’s his vertical, deceleration, contact balance or agility, there aren’t many professional athletes with the athleticism he has. At any given moment, Morant has the potential to leap off the page–figuratively and literally.
