Earlier this year on an episode of AEW: Dynamite, Kenny Omega and Vikingo had a match of the year candidate and easily the best television professional wrestling match of this year so far. It looks like the fans will be blessed again as a rematch has been announced to take place at Triplemania XXXI. AAA is one of the largest professional wrestling promotions outside of the United States and probably the current biggest Lucha Libre style promotion in the world. Vikingo calls AAA home, where he is the current AAA Mega Championship holder. Unlike their first match, this time the AAA Mega Championship will be on the line.
Kenny Omega has been a pillar of the professional wrestling industry, especially since the birth of All Elite Wrestling. He has helped elevate wrestlers all over the world and the same can be said for Vikingo following their match. Vikingo was highly regarded as an incredible in ring talent, but after his match with Omega he was catapulted to a different level. He is famous for his gravity defying aerial attack style in which he uses maneuvers never seen before. He has an acrobatic athleticism that is honestly comparable to none.
Triplemania XXXI is going to be AAA’s biggest event of the year. One could compare AAA’s Triplemania to WWE’s Wrestlemania, as they both are the biggest showcase of talent. Kenny Omega v Vikingo has the potential to be one of the greatest wrestling matches of all time. That is not an understatement. Their first meeting was nothing short of incredible and they are definitely going to attempt to top it. Pair that along with more time and a pay-per view big match feel, this could be something incredibly special. This time, I would not be surprised to see Omega put Vikingo over in his home country for the promotion he has helped so much as of late.
