Kendrick Perkins Is NOT Happy With The Celtics’ 2023 Offseason

The Celtics lost all of their elbow grease this offseason and I have no idea how they’re going to replace it. Of course, the guy running the show with two-inch biceps wouldn’t understand the importance of that. One of the past grinders is Boston, Kendrick Perkins, has a big time issue with the Celtics approach this offseason.

“Damn sure not feeling good after this,” Perkins said on “NBA Today” on Thursday. “Here’s the thing, you need dogs in order to win a championship. The Celtics this past offseason just got rid of two pit bulls that they had in the locker room in Marcus Smart and Grant Williams. You can’t replace that. I don’t care about guys that play hard. That’s another thing. If you play hard and have tenacity, the noise talking, the get in your face, not being afraid to ruffle feathers — you can’t replace that. There’s no team in the history of sports that hasn’t had dogs in their roster in order for them to compete to win a championship.

“I don’t know if the Celtics have something coming down the pipeline or if Brad Stevens and Austin Ainge is working in that front office. But right now, I am not happy again for the second or third week in a row. I’m not happy with the moves and what’s happening down in Beantown.”

Perk isn’t always right. The guy says a lot of dumb things. However, there is no question that he’s right here. Marcus Smart is gone. So is Grant Williams. For a team that was already soft, WTF was Brad Stevens doing? This Celtics team isn’t any better than they were a year ago. In fact, they might be worse.

This Celtics team is heading in the wrong direction fast. I just refuse to believe a scrappy player like Danny Ainge would have pulled the trigger on these moves. Getting rid of Ainge was a mistake and it likely cost the Celtics a title.

Unless a major surprise like a Zion trade happens, this offseason was an L for Stevens. He belongs in jail and what he’s doing is a disgrace.
