Keegan Kolesar Inks Three-Year Extension With Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights aren’t screwing around. Kelly McCrimmon is out here cooking extension after extension. Keegan Kolesar was an impending free agent after the 2024-25 NHL Season… well, not anymore.

The 4th line right winger has signed a three year extension with the Golden Knights to stay in Vegas.

The Vegas Golden Knights team account was the first to report the news:

VEGAS (December 13, 2024) – Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced today, December 13, that the team has signed forward **Keegan Kolesar** to a three-year contract extension through the 2027-28 NHL season worth an average annual value of $2,500,000.”

Should we count the extensions?

Yeah, let’s do it.

McCrimmon has now figured out a way to sign Shea Theodore (link), Brayden McNabb (link), and Brett Howden (link) to in-season deals and we’re not even at the All-Star break yet. The only players who aren’t signed to new deals next year are Tanner Pearson, Victor Olofsson, Nic Hague, Alexander Holtz, and the two goalies. That’s literally it. By the way, Hague and Holtz are RFA’s so really it’s just the tandem in net that hasn’t been solved yet. The way this thing is going, Olofsson will have a new three year deal for dirt cheap signed by next week.

Good for Kolesar, by the way. I won’t lie, when he first joined the team I thought he was awful. The guy has come a long way and we’re in the middle of a breakout season. He looks more skilled eye test wise this year and it shows. He already has seven goals this year, which is one short of a career high mark. With the cap set to spike, this is more than a fair deal for both sides. Especially for the hidden price tag for Kolesar, who is the designated guy to fight. That part can’t be untold.
