If you have been keeping track of my NFL Draft stuff, you probably already know I’m a fan of KeAndre Lambert-Smith more than public perception. Today, we’re finally going to talk about why. Without further ado, here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on the Auburn wide receiver!
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 14, East-West (1), (2), (3), (4)
Lambert-Smith, 22, was a four star recruit coming out of high school. The Norfolk, Virginia, native was the 32nd ranked receiver and 5th overall player in the state during the 2020 cycle. Also, I’m not sure if people care about this, but I finally learned at the East-West game that his uncle is Kam Chancellor.
Let me also say this. I like Lambert-Smith better than I liked KJ Hamler and Jahan Dotson (I never disliked them, was actually quite fond, but thought their draft day price was too rich). Now I think maybe the market has overcorrected on the former Penn State product. Lambert-Smith was recruited in that same mold of player at Penn State. He spent four years with the Nittany Lions prior to finishing up at Auburn.
2024 was his best season posting 50 receptions for 981 yards and eight touchdowns. Oh, yeah, that’s a 19.6 yards per catch mark. He’s always been good at making explosive plays, and we saw that as an underclassman at the Rose Bowl. He’s been starting since the back half of his true freshman season back in 2020.
I think we saw two big positives last year that can’t be ignored.
A: Payton Thorne is hot trash (profile). Putting up those numbers with that clown throwing you the ball is impressive, especially in the SEC.
B: He outproduced stud freshman Cam Coleman. If Lambert-Smith was a fraud, Coleman would have leaped him for the WR1 role at Auburn. Coleman is going to be an absolute stud soon, so the fact that Lambert-Smith did what he did never being overshadowed says a lot.
C: Penn State couldn’t replace him. Tyler Warren had to do everything in part because Penn State didn’t have a single reliable receiver on the team. Harrison Wallace was the leading receiver with 46 receptions for 720 yards and was clearly a downgrade. Nobody else really did anything in what included a flop year out of Julian Fleming. You can’t hide the fact that Penn State really missed him.
He’s not overly big at 6-foot-1, 190, but the top end 4.37 speed works for me. I thought he looked really good at the Combine in general. He was a lightning rod during the practices at the East-West. In a class full of guys who are question marks, KLS sure looks like a real contributor to me. Not a slot merchant either, and played outside a ton in college.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith is a favorite of mine. I think he’s legitimately a middle round player. It seems like nobody likes the guy, so I’ll happily take him for free at the end of the draft.
