I’ll be honest with you; I’m not excited to do this one. Mostly because it felt like Ja’Corey Brooks had promise, once upon a time, and this is my way of saying I’m giving up on him. Without further ado, here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on the Louisville wide receiver!

Brooks, 23, was a former five star recruit during the 2021 cycle. The former IMG Academy product was listed as the 27th overall player, second overall receiver, and 7th ranked player in the state of Florida. He spent three seasons at Alabama prior to finishing up at Louisville.

The timeline here is just crazy. Brooks had a tiny bit of production as a freshman but mostly played special teams. The next season as a sophomore, he goes out there and posts 39 grabs for 674 yards and eight scores. It looked like Brooks was about to pop off, and it just never happened. The next year, he had three total receptions in nine games as a backup and then missed the rest of 2023 with a shoulder injury. Finally, Brooks wrapped everything up with 61 receptions for 1,013 yards and nine scores. He was the number one receiver for Tyler Shough (profile).

I watched plenty of Brooks. The guy just doesn’t have a burst. It’s not a surprise he didn’t run at the Combine because it would have been a poo poo time. It just takes him too long to get what he wants to do. Just stiff and no gear at all. Checks in at 6-foot-2, 184, with at least some height. Just don’t see anyway he’s running with NFL corners and making plays based on what we’ve seen. Doesn’t pass the smell test at all eye test wise and his East-West showing wasn’t any reason to inspire confidence. Didn’t even really bother mentioning him there.

I have Ja’Corey Brooks as an undrafted player, and he’s not a target of mine as an undrafted player either. It happens. Some five stars are busts, and I think we have one here.
