Is Kayvon Thibodeaux Really A Risky 2022 NFL Draft Prospect?

There has been talk as of late that Oregon pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux is falling down draft boards. It’s important to remember this time of year, teams are doing everything they can to plant seeds in the media. Sometimes for better or worse.

Garrett recently put together the draft profile for Kayvon Thibodeaux and just wanted to throw my two cents in. Make sure to read the post cause he did a great job with it.

The talk around the Oregon pass rusher doesn’t seem football related. They’re worried he’s into crypto? They’re worried he likes things other than football. They’re worried he’s lazy or not smart. They’re worried he’s more of a brand guy. Maybe the guy is lazy? I don’t know, I didn’t interview him. The only thing I know is that Thibodeaux’s talent is off the charts and it’s a god damn shame if he’s the next Jadeveon Clowney.

Thibodeaux was THE guy in the 2019 HS recruiting class. Thibs was number one on every recruiting list you want to use. I just find it hard to believe that guy isn’t going to make it at the NFL level when he was productive in college. Thibs got nine sacks right out of the gate as a freshman in five starts. He’s stupid talented.

The measurables are all there too. Good size at 6-foot-4, 254. Perfect outside linebacker 3-4 guy. Over 33 inch arms helps. 4.58 40 time is stupid good. 27 bench press reps shows the guy works out and maintains his stuff.

The movement skills have always been there. Twitchy everywhere. Powerful fast hands. Can bend, dip, rip, swim, whatever you want. Maybe needs more technique with the hands but he’s powerful already. Thibs hasn’t come close to hitting his ceiling yet.

Maybe I’m missing the boat here but I don’t get where the risk is here? How many guys are you really going to take over Kayvon Thibodeaux? If he falls outside of the top 10, it will likely look hilarious. Kinda like how it does with Micah Parsons right now.
