Let’s face it Mike Pettine was never going to be the answer for the Browns or be good enough to reinvigorate a defense lead by Karlos Dansby. After a horrific 3-13 season in 2015 Dansby painted a clear picture for how hard it was to stay motivated on the Browns downward spiral.
“The coaches and the front office, there was just a lot of mess going on, a lot of things going on, a lot of
distractions,” Dansby, now a member of the Bengals, told SiriusXM NFL Radio this week. “Because at a certain point, guys had just shut down.”“Guys shut down, the organization just wasn’t clicking. The coaches and the front office, there was just a lot of mess going on, a lot of things going on, a lot of distractions.”
Pettine’s tenure as head coach lasted only two seasons going 10-22, losing 18 of his final 21 games. Former GM Ray Farmer was likely one of those distractions following the Johnny Manziel scandal and the text message gate that followed.
Of course following the recent Cavs championship the city of Cleveland has a reason to be optimistic. The Browns will be lead by the Hue Jackson, RG3 brass in 2016.
