Jrue Holiday is known as one of the good samaritans on and off the court. It takes a lot for Holiday to get upset about something. He wasn’t even bitter about the fact that the Bucks traded him. However, the former UCLA product was asked about the In-Season tournament. Holiday wasn’t shy about voicing his opinion.
The Celtics hammered the Bulls 124-97 and needed to win by a substantial margin to advance in the tournament. Holiday didn’t like the idea of being forced to run up the score. He also said it in the nicest way possible.
“I guess maybe there’s some things I don’t agree with, but I also know that there are rules,” Holiday told reporters. “We also want to win. We want to make the tournament and have the best seed that we can. I don’t like it, but I understand it.”
It’s hard to really disagree with him. I don’t really understand the point differential part of the tournament. What exactly does it accomplish by having guys go balls to the wall in order to blow teams out more during nonsense regular season games?
For what it’s worth, Jaylen Brown echoed something similar after the game.
I think I’ll do a separate post on this down the line, but I hate the midseason tournament. Is anybody a fan of it in its current form? Honestly, the worst part of the tournament might be the courts. They make my eyes bleed and almost make the games totally unwatchable.
Feel free to let those comments fly. Do you like the NBA In-Season Tournament? What would you change about it?
