Did Josh Reddick Throw Shade At Cody Bellinger?

I might have to re-write my headline for the Cody Bellinger post I did about him signing with the Cubs. Don’t call it a prove it deal. Josh Reddick will tell you that Bellinger out-kicked his coverage on the one-year deal he signed with Chicago. Did former Dodger Josh Reddick throw shade at Bellinger? It sure would appear that way.

So the numbers aren’t exact here but there is only one person he could really be talking about. Bellinger signed for $17 million. He also hit for .210. BUT the strikeout numbers were exact. 150 punchouts on the nose for Bellinger in 2022.

Reddick has an out here if he wants to try and deny it. Maybe he did it on purpose so he would have a hedge. Everyone knows who he’s talking about though. Reddick and Bellinger were never teammates but technically Bellinger was his replacement on the roster. Reddick finished the 2016 season with LA after being traded there at the deadline. The following offseason Reddick signed with Houston and was part of that 2017 Astros team that won a ring. Bellinger made his Dodgers debut in 2017.

I don’t want to say for certain but Reddick could harbor some feelings from knowing Bellinger during his time with the Dodgers. OR maybe he didn’t like what Bellinger had to say after he cried about Houston’s title. Regardless of the motive, that Tweet was SAVAGE!

Yes, we have a post from way back tracking when Josh Reddick was traded. Long time ago.

Time will tell if Bellinger is able to have that rebound season Scott Boras is hoping for. I’m not sure that massive payday is ever coming. Until he fixes his swing, Bellinger will be a below-average baseball player with his lone asset being his speed and defensive ability.
