Let’s take a trip down memory lane. It’s the 2016 NFL Offseason and the Carolina Panthers franchised Josh Norman. Suddenly just weeks later, Carolina just flat out released Norman from the tag. The corner found his way in Washington rather quick. The man who released Norman from his tag (a move that made zero sense given the fact that Carolina could no longer collect a comp pick) was Dave Gettleman.
Gettleman has been affecting the Redskins a lot lately. Gettleman let Landon Collins walk who later signed with Washington. The Giants also drafted Daniel Jones. 9 picks later, the Redskins drafted their quarterback, Dwayne Haskins. A lot of ripple effects there.
Norman went on the Rich Eisen Show and threw some shots at his former General Manager:
“I think we need to put him on salary,” Norman responded amid laughter. “I think we need to put him on salary. I mean, they need to protect Dave Gettleman at all costs up in New York, for sure. All costs, because he’s winning for us, geez Louise.”
For the record, I do not like Rich Eisen. I find him incredibly annoying. It’s part of the reason why I refused to watch the NFL Network Draft Coverage over ESPN. I will give him credit here. That’s a great question. Probably the first time in his broadcasting career he actually did something well.
Back to dummy, Dave. Norman is correct. He probably does owe him some money because he wasn’t landing record money on a franchise tag. The Giants are also the laughing stock of football. Any person that still believes Eli Manning can play just frankly isn’t very smart. I know that Norman liked fighting with Odell but he better still bring it against the Giants. Well, I guess he can thank Dave for running Odell out of town too.
