Josh Hart Traded To The Knicks

Josh Hart is on the move! The New York Knicks are acquiring the Portland Trail Blazers wing. Cam Reddish and a first-rounder are on the way back. Knicks fans were looking for trades, and now they have one. Adrian Wojnarowski just broke the news:

It was only a matter of when Reddish would be traded. He fell out of favor with head coach Tom Thibodeau, ending a questionable year in NYC. Hart will bolster a rotation that is looking to may the playoffs this season. As well, the former Villanova Wildcat will be reunited with Knicks fan favorite Jalen Brunson. In terms of picks, Leon Rose has more than plenty to choose from. He acquired three of them on draft day last year. The 27-year-old has struggled from three this season, but does bring some plug-and-play ability for Thibs.

Good Gamble For Portland?

The Blazers actually did quite well here. In the right situation, Cam Reddish could truly thrive in the NBA. There’s a reason he was a lottery pick in 2019. They even got a protected first round pick that could be potentially used as ammo in the near future. We’ve already seen Portland do exactly that in picking up Jerami Grant during the 2022 draft. This deal has the makings of a really good one for Portland both now and the future. A player that could enter the rotation now and some draft capital that could become useful. As for the Knicks, well, they’re the Knicks.

For the Knicks, I’m not sure how to feel. Will Hart just be a part 2 of Reddish? He is able to play at the 2 or the 3, so that should help in terms of getting him into the rotation. On top of Brunson, Julius Randle, and RJ Barrett, there’s a chance that he can help the Knicks during this stretch of the season. Obviously, we gotta see how he fits in, but he could at the very least help with locker room chemistry. He is also former teammates with Randle from the Lakers in 2017-2018.

This is only the beginning of deadline day folks. Like I said in the Westbrook post (above), things are gonna be moving quick between now and 3 PM tomorrow.
