Jose Canseco got knocked out in Rough and Rowdy!
Former MLB All-Star and noted steroid user fought in Rough and Rowdy, the Barstool Sports owned boxing company. He fought Pardon My Take intern, Billy Football for a $100,000 dollar prize.
Supposedly Canseco was reportedly getting $50,000 just to show up for the fight, but he had a chance to double that if he won.
Canseco predicted a first round knock out after weigh ins, but the 56 year old came into the fight with a torn shoulder (according to him) and he used that as his excuse after he got his ass beat by the intern.
Billy Football is no slouch either, he is 6 foot 4 inches tall and weighed in at 215 pounds on the weigh-in day. Jose Canseco is also 6 foot 4 inches but he weighs a few pounds under 270.
This was the most purchased pay-per-view event in the history of Barstool Sports according to Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, he announced on the broadcast. Alongside him on the call was Dan Katz aka Barstool Big Cat, as well as noted Conor McGregor super fan Robbie Fox. The fight was available for purchase on their website for $19.99 and included the main event as well as the undercard
The Canseco fight was the main event on a 25 bout card, the featured a midget fight as well as a few female fights. The Canseco fight, although it was the main event was not even close to the best fight of the night.
There was speculation from Portnoy that Canseco might not even show up to the fight in the first place.
Dave then tweeted that he thought the steroid using washed-up MLB player took a dive. Such a shame because over 100,000 people bought the fight at least hoping it would last more then 1 round, but that is what happens when someone closer to 50 then 30 steps in the boxing ring.
