Jonathan Majors to Star as NBA Legend Dennis Rodman
Jonathan Majors might be the busiest man in Hollywood. I’m not sure if that is exactly true but he is up there as one of the hardest-working actors.
He is coming off his gigantic role as Damian Anderson, the antagonist in the new Creed lll movie. Majors also was recently Kang the Conqueror in the new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and he was in the film Devotion in 2022. Majors played the main character Nat Love in the fantastic The Harder They Fall, which was released in 2021.
It appears this actor loves keeping his plate full. Now, he will stay in the sports world as he is planning on portraying the wild and unique Dennis Rodman.
There is not much information known yet about the upcoming 48 Hours in Vegas film. The movie is inspired by the story of when then-Bulls forward Rodman took an out-of-the-blue vacation during the 1998 NBA Finals.
Basketball fans know Rodman as an all-time player that was a part of one of Michael Jordan’s three-peats. The Chicago Bulls won back-to-back-to-back NBA championships from 1996-98 with Rodman as one of their starting forwards.
Rodman was one of the best defenders, collecting two NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards during his career. He was also one of the best rebounders to ever play the game as he was a seven-time NBA rebounding champion. However, Rodman was special not only for his play but for his eccentric personality off the court.
Majors has the physicality to play Rodman as we saw in Creed lll, but he will have to work to fully portray the human enigma that is Rodman.
Majors’ Other Major Roles
As I stated earlier Majors played cowboy Nat Love in the beautiful The Harder They Fall. This film is a Revisionist Western, but it could also be classified as a “Black Western” as the main cast is predominantly Black, a group which have been historically underrepresented in cinema. This film stars wonderful actors such as Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, Regina King and LaKeith Stanfield. This revenge/love story offers nonstop entertainment as two rival gangs find themselves in the middle of a complex fight for survival, money, and justice.
Majors’ last film Creed lll just released earlier this month on March 3. Creed lll received an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and made $58.7 million in its opening weekend at the box office. Majors was a big part of Creed lll’s success as he was sharing center stage with the incredible Michael B. Jordan.
Now, NBA fans as well as pop culture fans familiar with Dennis Rodman will be intrigued to see how Jonathan Majors will portray the NBA legend in 48 Hours in Vegas.
