John Schneider Defends The Jamal Adams Trade

The Jamal Adams trade was a total disaster for Seattle. The Seahawks released the veteran safety prior to free agency after contributing very little during his time with the team. Don’t worry, John Schneider, the idiot who made the trade, somehow found a way to defend the failed transaction.

VIA Seattle Sports 710:

It was the COVID year,” Schneider said, via Mookie Alexander of FieldGulls.com. “We were picking [23rd overall in 2020], and in order to go from where we were and trying to [move] up to pick a guy like Jamal, who was picked [sixth overall in 2017], you’ve got to give up another first-round pick the next year. He came in here, our coaches did a great job with him, he had 9.5 sacks, goes to the Pro Bowl, is completely disruptive. He comes back the next year, he’s having a good season, gets hurt. Then he gets hurt again [Week 1 of 2022] — like really, really bad injury. So I feel bad for him.”

Nope. I reject your answer.

This trade was dumb from day one and I’m going to tell you why. Stop trying to convince me Adams is a good football player. He would have been a really good player in the 90’s. The problem is he’s John Lynch. A really nice blitzer. Can’t cover anybody to save his life. He can easily be taken out of a game by simply shifting the protection. If he’s the extra rusher, he can be taken out of the game by putting your tackle on him. It is what it is. He doesn’t fit the modern NFL. The fact that Schneider didn’t get that is alarming.

By the way, this trade stunk from day one. No hindsight bias involved…
