Joel Embiid calls ‘bulls—t’ on players claiming to not care about NBA MVP

Philadelphia 76ers superstar center Joel Embiid has provided his opinion on the NBA MVP award race. Embiid, the MVP frontrunner for the season, has revealed that players claiming they don’t care about the award is “bulls—t,” according to Bleacher Report.

Embiid said that winning the MVP has become incredibly important to him. With the 76ers having quite the successful season this year, Embiid has become the best center in the league. Philadelphia ranks third in the Eastern Conference and third in the entire league, only behind the Bucks and Celtics.

Embiid’s Change of Tone towards NBA MVP

“One thing I’ll say is that if people tell you they don’t care about it, they’re lying,” Embiid said, via Bleacher Report. “That’s the best award you can get as a basketball player, it means a lot,” he said. “But if I were to win it, it would validate all the work that I put in, that’s why I cared about it, because you put it so much work and if you get that recognition, it just validates that you didn’t wast your time. But like I said, if someone tells you that they don’t care, that’s bulls–t.”

Embiid has certainly changed his tone on the MVP award from previous months. After a win over the Mavericks, Embiid said, “I don’t care. Like I said, it’s all about the playoffs.”

Embiid has been dominant all season long for the City of Brotherly Love. The big man has secured his second-straight NBA scoring title with 33.1 points per game this season, following up 30.6 last season. Aside from scoring, Embiid is cleaning the glass, too. The former Kansas Jayhawk ranks eighth in rebounds per game with 10.2. Embiid is also dishing the rock. The big man is averaging a career high 4.2 assists per game. On top of all this, Embiid is shooting his best field goal percentage by a mile. He is shooting a whopping 55% from the field.

With the regular season ending, can Embiid add his first piece of hardware to his collection?
