ESPN Radio is slowly building out there programing schedule for the Fall. It’s already been announced that Chris Canty will be getting a morning show. Now ESPN Radio has announced that they will be building their afternoon show around gambling personality, Joe Fortenbaugh.
The New York Post was the first to report the news:
“Now, The Post has learned that Chris Carlin and Joe Fortenbaugh will be paired from noon to 3 p.m. Carlin, who once was the producer of the iconic “Mike & the Mad Dog” show in WFAN afternoon drive, and also later hosted in that spot, had most recently been hosting with Canty at 3:00 p.m.”
“Fortenbaugh, a contributor to ESPN’s “Daily Wager” gambling program, had been hosting radio with Amber Wilson at 7:00 p.m.”
The New York Post also notes that Harry Douglas and Freddie Coleman will take the 3-7 shift. Amber Wilson and Ian Fitzsimmons are on from 7-10. Q Myers will round things out from 10-1 am. Mike Greenberg also hosts a show in the morning leading up to Fortenbaugh.
Promoting Fortenbaugh was a smart move by ESPN. The decision to fire Doug Kezirian (link in embed above) probably ruffled some feathers given the fact that Fortenbaugh hosted the Daily Wager show with him. With Bet ESPN on the horizon, giving a smart gambling guy more responsibilities was a wise move by the company.
Let’s hear from you in the comments. Do you believe that this will help viewership on ESPN Radio or will this not make any difference? Who do you think should have been given a radio instead?
