Dana Brown: Confident Kyle Tucker Will Be With Astros For Life
Kyle Tucker is good at baseball. Astros general manager Dana Brown is eager to make sure Tucker spends the rest of his playing career in Houston. It’s as simple as that and it’s probably the right call. Getting an extension done for Tucker should probably be pretty high on the to-do list for Brown.
“Well, let’s say this, Kyle Tucker will be a Houston Astro for his career,” Brown said during an appearance Wednesday on SportsTalk 790.
“I think he really wants to stay here. I think we’ll get something done. We are focused on getting to the postseason, winning the division, getting deep into the postseason right now, but at the end of the day, we feel strongly that we’ll get something done.”
“We have Tucker for a couple more years,” Brown said. “We feel strongly about getting it done. Tucker loves being here. We’ll deal with the agent, and we’ll get something done at some point.”
Tucker, 26, is criminally underrated and has become one of the best corner hitting outfielders in the big leagues. The lefty slugger is slashing .296/.377/.517 with 21 homers and 24 steals through 113 games. Tucker will become an unrestricted free agent following the 2025 MLB Season. We know how contacts like this go. The longer you wait, the more it’s going to cost you. Houston would be wise to get this done now rather than on the heels of free agency. It sure sounds like a Tucker extension could well be on the horizon this Winter.
