JK Dobbins wants to re-sign with the LA Chargers in free agency

One of the under-the-radar comeback stories of the 2024 NFL season was running back JK Dobbins’ with the Los Angeles Chargers. Dobbins has an extensive injury history, especially with his lower body. He had injuries in high school and at Ohio State. Nevertheless, he was selected in the second round by the Baltimore Ravens where he was set up for success in their running game. However, after a torn ACL, a torn Achilles, and multiple surgeries his time with the Ravens was a bit disappointing. Finally, JK Dobbins in his first year with the Chargers had a successful and healthy season.

“I love it here. The ‘Bolt Fam’ has welcomed me here with open arms” – JK Dobbins

Dobbins looked great as a rookie for the Ravens playing 15 games and rushing for 805 yards and nine touchdowns. Now, four years later he was able to showcase that he can be a good NFL running back and has juice left in him. This season Dobbins played 13 games while rushing for 905 yards and nine touchdowns. He was on a one-year contract in 2024 but I think the contract worked out for both the Chargers and Dobbins.

Now, he will need to be re-signed by the Chargers in the off-season. Furthermore, Dobbins made it clear that he wants to stay in LA when speaking to Chargers media.

“They love me even people counted me out. I would love to be here. Only God could say what happens in the future, but I would love to be here.”” – JK Dobbins

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers suffered a disappointing end to their season in a bad loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round of playoffs. However, they did finish with an 11-6 record and had a better identity under head coach Jim Harbaugh. Los Angeles has issues on both sides of the ball but the more pressing issues are on offense.

The Chargers need interior lineman help as well as more receiving weapons. If the Chargers re-sign JK Dobbins in free agency, this move would allow them to focus on these other areas. However, they should sign a good backup running back because the injury history will always be there. Ultimately, JK Dobbins just had an amazing year with the Los Angeles Chargers so it would be great to see him continue to succeed in what could be his new long-term home.
